Reading

This page includes books read and recommended by the blog writer.  This is not intended as a detailed review but the blogger simply believes these books are worth one's consideration in reading.  The list does not propose to be comprehensive but its purpose is to bring forward some good books that one may have missed.  Obviously, this is not a blanket endorsement of every idea or detail in the books or even the book itself.  It is simply a recommendation to read and judge for yourself.

Readers are encouraged to respond and comment.  Or, readers may post their own recommendations of books in the comments section.  We would especially like to see good books that may have been overlooked by others.

I recommend:

Horton, Ronald Arthur. Mood Tides: Divine Purpose in the Rhythms of Life. Greenville, SC: JourneyForth, 2008. Print.

Mood Tides by Ronald Horton examines our emotions as a reflection of God's image.  Everyone experiences the ebb and flow of emotions.  Exuberant joy gives way to sorrow. Confidence ebbs into self-despising depression.  Our emotional self mirrors God's own being, and these rhythms of life are designed to help us experience and more fully understand all that God wants us to learn.  Accepting the heights and depths of emotion as natural and intended can free us to become the completed Christians that God desires us to be.  (copied)
